Stamping 101

This is a LO for Studio Azul based on Iris Uy's sketch. I had a hard time doing this since I couldn't figure out how to use circle photos. Although the sketch only asked for 5 or so, I decided to make more and make it as part of the design.

What I liked about this, however, is that it showed how my son loved to do stamping. I know he had seen me stamp several times, but he wanted to do it his own way. When his nanny gave him the glass chess pieces I placed in a box, I couldn't help but laugh! Apparently, both Galo and his nanny thought that the chess pawn is a stamp, esp. since the base of the pawn is a circular felt cloth!

Journal: Note
1. Get a chess pawn.
2. Get a stamp pad.
3. Press pawn base on stamp.
4. Stamp on paper.
5. Repeat stemps 1-4.
6. Add a little gusto.
7. Repeat several times.
8. DISPLAY
9. WORK
10. PROUDLY!!!

Materials: WRMK Homemade Woolen Stocking, Thickers Champagne, mm 5th Blossoms & Buttons flower, SEI Pearl Brads Guy, Carolina's ribbon, Reeves Acrylic Phthalo Blue, Brilliance Moonlight White, Uniball Signo pen. Others: See-d's Savoir Faire stamp, Inque Boutique Nightingale.

Techniques used: Stamping, painting, doodling circular pattern on main photo, handwriting the journal.

Joined in Time

For A Peek Into Yesterday's Becky Fleck's Pagemaps, Sketch Map#1, I made this LO of Galo and myself, about how a mother's connection to her child is strong and grows stronger in time.

The visible journal is a poem from George Eliot for ATB Passion. It reads: What greater thing is there for two human souls than to feel that they are joined... to strengthen each other...to be at one with each other in silent unspeakable MEMORIES.

Underneath the poem is the hidden journal which says: I've been waiting for you for so long, that when you finally did arrive, I could hardly believe it. The bond I felt with you was so strong, it was overwhelming. Yet, I now feel connected to you a million times more since then. Over the years, you made me your mother, and I made you my son. We are joined together. Time will only make our bond stronger.

2+1=Family

I just finished a LO for A Peek Into Yesterday based on Becky Fleck's PageMaps, Sketch Map #2.

Visible journal is a poem of Mignon McLaughlin. It reads: In the arithmetic of Love, one plus one equals EVERYTHING, and two minus one equals NOTHING.

Underneath the poem is a hidden journal that reads: When I placed photos on the 3 picture frames of the family, you played with them like they were toys. Since the frames connect with magnets at the hands, it was but fitting that they should stand together. Together, they spell a family, divided they are nothing. Just like the photo frames, we are a family and that means everything in this world.

I won Studio Azul's Challenge! WOOOH!

I'm soo happy! I won the non-member's Studio Azul Challenge using Au's Sketch for Water Fountain! WOOOH! Didn't think I would since there were many, many LOs I think were even more striking than mine! But I won't say no to the prize! Haaaay, heaven. I love the RAK!!! Thanks, Mia and Tin! --- I am not worthy!!!--- Congratulations to all the ladies for their gorgeous LOs!

Water Fountain

I had a difficult time making this LO based on Au Lim's sketch for Studio Azul because it needed 4 photos. I loved the photo of the water fountain so much, I decided to make it as part of the foreground papers by printing it on a transparency. Since the background is a water paper pattern, the pattern just showed through the transparency. The photos of Galo playing and having fun with the squirting water in Market!Market! were really worth capturing.

That Man I Married

This LO is my first of my hubby. This past January, I was working so much on wedding LOs for Scrapbukan, that I got inspired to make a mini-wedding album, which is still unfinished, and this LO of Arn.

Em Magpoc's beautiful sketch for Scrapbytes (Feb. 2008) is what I used to make this lay-out. I am so glad because hubby's wedding photo was just perfect for it.

I had a hard time making the journal, but I found a perfect poem to show the sentiments I feel for this man. It reads:

You are my earth and all that earth implies:
The gravity that ballasts me in space,
The air I breathe, the land that stills my cries
For food and shelter against devouring days.
You are the earth whose orbit marks my way
And sets my north and south, my east and west,
You are the final elemental clay
The driven heart must turn to for its rest.
