Something's a-brewing!

I've been busy working on several LOs and a project. I'm done with the 2 LOs, and finally finished the basics of the project. It just needs embellishment. Watch out for this last one because I'm extremely proud of the work I was able to do.

Oh, and I'm in the middle of several things too. Will update with recent news soon.

2 New Projects done for Gauche Alchemy!

I'm done! I recently did a LO of myself, plus an altered eyeglass case for Gauche Alchemy. They'll both be posted in the next few weeks. Good thing I'm done too since I'll be holing myself into a corner to start working on the children's evaluations for the 1st Semester PTCs! Arrrgh!!! The tension is mounting so the best course is to start chipping away at the pile.

Thoughts on my Vintage Style

I've always been looking for sites that cater to my vintage style. Most of my scrapper friends tell me that my style is so truly vintage that even without the absence of vintage materials, I put my own touch to it. Hence, they always say that my style is so much mine.

Really don't know about that. I do know that I like certain papers and embellies over others. However, when required to use what is there, I will make sure that the LO or the project will always still show who I am.

Why vintage? I really don't know. Maybe it's because of my love for history and for tracing my genealogy. Maybe because vintage is timeless. It already looks old and will never be out of style. Also, I like making things from ordinary materials, and coming up with special items that are new and different. I'm an out-of-the-box thinker. When given some parameters, I always want to make something that is truly unique, but still truly me. I earlier realized that I can scrap any way required, but to be truly me means even going against the odds. If that costs me a challenge, so be it. I'd rather be myself.

Productive Start of the Year

I don't know what came over me but apparently, this January 2008 has so far produced a number of LOs and projects I never thought I'd be able to accomplish. My only goal, since I never had one before for scrapbooking, was to come up with 4 LOs at least. As of my last count, I now have 7 LOs done, 1 altered project done, and still working on the 2nd altered project. I also foresee doing 1 more for Lasting Impression, and possible 1 more other challenge or just for fun. Just this weekend, I finished 3 LOs. This is quite surprising for me. Obviously, I'm starting the year well. The question is, can I sustain this pace? Most likely not. When March rolls in, I'll be so busy with end-of-the-year school activities, scrapbooking will have to take a backseat.

Will post all of these LOs and projects when I'm able to later.

Scrapbukan GDT LOs are done!

I'm finally finished with the LOs Sahrie of Scrapbukan asked me to do as Guest Design Team Member for January. She only asked me for 3 LOs or 2 LOs and 1 altered project. When I saw the kit with wedding rubons, I was so inspired, I ended up making 4 wedding LOs plus a 6 x 6 standing calendar kraft book that I am making into a mini-wedding album during the Christmas Break. I'm still not finished with the album, but I'm happy with the 4 LOs. Will post my LOs here a week after Scrapbukan features my work.

Now, if I could just finish my mini-wedding album by next week, then perhaps I can finally finish My Little Child's Ancestry Book.

Scrapbukan Guest DesignTeam for January

This is the first time I've ever been asked to be a Guest Design Team member. And I really like it! I received the Scrapbukan Package today of papers and embellishments and I can hardly wait to start working on it! I hope I do justice to the materials. Thanks, Sahrie, for trusting me.

Busy Christmas PLUS!

Christmas is a very hectic time of the month for me. As a teacher, we have lessons to finish, a Christmas Program and Party to plan and to execute, school letters to write, recommendation letters and certified true copies of school grades to do for the graduating children. It never ends!

Currently, I'm choreographing my grades 4-7 class' dance from West Side Story called "Cool." Some of the kids can't tell their right from their left, while others literally have poor gross motor skills. --- But when the children do get to realize what I'm driving at, they appreciate it. They even clapped when they got it right. The upside to this is that in the last few days, I've actually lost weight, just because of the dance. Of course, my UE1 (upper elementary class in Montessori) class still has to finish their own modern "showdown" dance which they have problems finishing themselves. Then there's their Filipiniana dance called "Dugso," which requires me to play the clavicles, the maracas and the bells without any music. We also have 3 songs to sing. And all of these have to be ready by Dec.18th!--- And I still have to make my gifts for the children!

Then there's the PinoyScrapbookers-Scrapbook Exchange Christmas Party. I'm really excited for the party, but I also have to squeeze in finishing all the challenges they have. There's the Christmas Card, as well as the cd wall art. The Christmas Card took me a long while to do, from planning, to trial-and-error, to execution, but I'm quite pleased with the result. The cd wall art is another matter. When I learned about it, I actually said, "What?! I don't want that on my wall!" It reminded me of the Home Economics projects in high school wherein I was supposed to make something out of trash which I often thought still looked like trash for the purpose of "beautifying the home."

Anyway, I figured out a way of incorporating the cds, at least 3, into something I'd like to have on my wall. I'll take photos of the two projects by tomorrow and post it on Saturday, the day of the party. I'm proud of what I've actually done... even if I don't win a thing.
