MM Featured Page- Perfection

Memory Makers Magazine is featuring my fist LO on acrylic, Perfection (scroll down to see the LO below). It shows my parents hands during the exchanging of rings. This was the first time I used both an acrylic sheet and a KI Memories lace cardstock, and I must say that it was really a challenge. I didn't want to cover up the clear surface, nor did I want the cs to overwhelm the acrylic. I liked how this turned out to be, simple but elegant.

Perfection

This LO was a fun and easy one to do. This is the first time I've used KI lace cardstock. I decided to use my parents' wedding photo of the exchange of rings on a clear acrylic sheet. What is striking is that this is also similar to one of my wedding photos which I scrapped early this year for the Scrapbukan GDT.

Using StazOn, I stamped the background script all over the acrylic sheet using Stampin' Up's En Francais stamp. Then I cut out KI lace cardstock and arranged it around the photo, inked it with my favorite Tsukineko Walnut Ink to age the lace, and embellished it with black buttons. The title is from the mm De-fined Wedding stickers.

The hidden journal is revealed when the flowers mounted on DCWV black cs and decorated with Barbara Trombley's Vintage Glass Glitter are pulled down. The journal is handwritten on vellum paper mounted on a scrap kraft paper with the same En Francais stamp all over and again mounted on the black cs. It says: Marriage is not the absence of imperfection. Rather, it is perfected when a true match is made. Such a match, when worked at in a lifetime, can only be considered perfect. My parents are proof of this.

Materials: 12x12 acrylic sheet, KI Pop Culture Flower Child White, DCWV black cs, vellum, kraft paper scrap, mm De-fined Wedding Sticker, StazOn Timber Brown, Barbara Trombley's Vintage Glass Glitter 610 Onyx Fine, mm 5th Avenue Blossoms & Buttons (buttons only), Tsukineko Walnut Ink, Carolina's cord and ribbon, Pigma Micron 03 pen.
Techniques used: handwritten journal, stamping on acrylic sheet, inking sides of LO with StazOn ink, inking sides of lace cardstock with walnut ink to age it.

Beautiful Moments

I recently came across my parents' old wedding album. The cover of the album is no longer pretty but the sepia photographs have been preserved quite meticulously. No sign of acidity from the Tropicana Studio's photographs. That really shows Tropicana does know what they're doing.

This past weekend, we celebrated my parents' 44th wedding anniversary. This Legacy Scrapbooking LO is my tribute to them. I sparingly placed glue all over the white scroll and the flower, then dusted Diamond Dust Fine and Onyx Vintage Glass glitter on them. These give the LO a spectacular shine and texture that resemble sugar frosting!!!

Hidden journal is revealed when the flower is pulled from the right side. It recounts the day they first met in an Ateneo-Maryknoll college dance. It reads: Their eyes met across the room. In that brief moment, their lives changed. So did their future. They became husband and wife. They became one.

Upcoming Memory Makers Magazine Feature!

Yesterday, I woke up to an email from Katie Hilbert asking for a supply list and the journal. Memory Makers Magazine wants to feature my LO "In My Secret Garden!" My goodness! It is such an honor! --- I don't know when they'll feature it but I am so happy!

Red Roses

This wedding was resplendent in red roses. The photograph shows the couple right after they walked down the aisle from the altar after the ceremony. Apparently, no one prepared to shower them with flowers so we had to crush some red roses from the vases lining the aisle and shared these with the guests who stayed behind to congratulate the couple. These gorgeous rose petals were thrown at them for good luck.

To simulate the roses, I used a Stampin'Up Rose Stamps Set on plain red cardstock and highlighted these with glaze pens and gold embossing powder. I decided to leave a hidden blank white journal card for my friends to supply their sentiments for that day.

Wedding Invitations with Dried Flowers

I did this very simple LO on my friend's wedding this afternoon. I used actual dried roses from her wedding last week. I was able to use my Microfleur kit to dry the rosebuds using the microwave oven. This was my first time to use the Microfleur although I've had it for some time now. I'm glad how it turned out since the color of the rosebuds are closer to the original than if it was naturally pressed between old telephone directories.

Unfortunately, the imprint on the white square ceramic tile on the bottom left is hardly seen. The imprint has the couples' names.

The other wedding invitation below is that of my sister's. I had this extra invitation which just screamed to me to be embellished with dried flowers and leaves. This was something I started a long time ago but didn't finish until today. A friend is urging me to offer my services for weddings, both for the invitations and for scrapbooking photos. These will be part of my portfolio. Here's keeping my fingers crossed.

A Belated Wedding Gift for a Friend

Before I got into scrapbooking, I used to make LOs of friends' wedding invitations. In this case, I used dried flowers and leaves to decorate the invitation which I framed in ready-made wooden frames. Several people have egged me to make this a business of mine but I never got around to doing it. Since I am offering my services now for wedding scrapbook LOs, I was thinking of doing the same for the wedding invitations. Often, I try to use flowers from the wedding itself, if possible.

I Thee Wed

The photo of our exchange of rings is a smaller copy printed on transparency. Since I didn't get to use it before, I decided to use it for my friend's wedding venue as a sample for wedding LOs that I am going to offer as a service.

I used a cream cardstock and used my new Stampin' Up En Francais stamp in burgundy. Journal reads: August 3, 1995. On this day, we exchanged rings and... I thee wed.

Scrapbukan GDT LO - No Regrets

This last GDT wedding LO is entitled No Regrets. Hidden journal is revealed when the flower is pulled out. The journal speaks for itself.

Journal: Months of wedding preparations ensued prior to the big day. Arn and I made all of these plans and executed all of the details. The night before the wedding, we were still busy making the seating arrangements. Through it all, we had our disagreements, arguments and “tampuhan” as expected in planning for this milestone. I admit that there were times when I would feel so bad, I felt unsure about my reasons for getting married to Arn.

Yet, on August 3, 1995, as soon as my dad led me to the altar to meet my husband-to-be, all my anxieties, nervousness and fears disappeared. I heard my family and friends clapping and shouting for joy, so that while daddy was shaking hands with Arn, I looked back at my loved ones. And I felt no regret. All the trouble was worth it. I am happy to be Mrs. Lagazon.

Scrapbukan GDT LO - To Have and To Hold

To Have and To Hold features the actual photo of the exchange of rings. Since I wanted this LO to focus on this simple act, I wanted to have a photo that was really big. Instead of printing on photo paper, I printed it on transparency to give it more of a semblance of dimension. The background paper is a cream textured cardstock. To make the cream have a textured tulle effect, I stamped mini-scrolls in different colors (peach, green, aqua, gold and silver all over), then used a white VersaCraft ink (the 1" small square ink pad) and directly stamped onto the pattern of scrolls. Prima flowers, olive ribbons made into leaves and a Maya Road chipboard scroll plus laces and ribbons complete the LO. The journal was very minimal.
Journal reads: Remember this moment. August 3, 1995. (and along the top) Devotion. Promise. Future. Kiss. Honeymoon.

Scrapbukan GDT LO - One Light, One Path

Instead of a photograph, I placed our wedding invitation as the ephemera. This invitation was designed for us by an artist-friend. He took a photograph of the actual candle souvenirs I was painstakingly making by hand. Flower was made using strips of paper pushed through a brad.

The journal reads: The candle’s flame is a small flicker of light, capable of illuminating a room. With this unity candle, may we light our new single path, so that we can go on in our journey through difficulties and triumphs, through sickness and health, through rich and poor, as husband and wife until death do us part.

Scrapbukan GDT LOs - Happily Ever After

When Sahrie sent in the package of scrapping materials, she didn't tell me what the theme was. I took the cue from the rub-ons she sent which was on weddings. Since it was the first time for me to scrap any wedding picture, I attacked this project with gusto. It was fortunate that it was still Christmas Vacation then. I ended up doing not just the required 3, but 4 LOs. In fact, I was so much into the wedding train of LOs, I ended up doing my Lasting Impression Challenge on my wedding as well. Then, I even had the gumption to start a mini-wedding album. Unfortunately, I lost steam to finish this. Will probably do so some other time.

HAPPILY EVER AFTER:Our story shows how God determines our destiny.
I met Arn when I was a freshman and he was a sophomore in college. We both joined the Ateneo Catechetical Instruction League (ACIL) at the same time. Because we saw each other at least twice a week, we became close. I grew up with 4 sisters, so I considered him a brother, someone I could tell my secrets to, even my crushes in school. But apparently, he felt differently. He wanted more. It was something I wasn’t ready for. He was my first suitor.
Eight years passed. We matured, struggled with our own careers and our own desires for companionship. Our paths crossed once more when I joined Confraternitas Jesu, a psycho-spiritual group that seeks to help us learn who we really are. Some of its members are friends from our college days. Arn and I rekindled our friendship, but we never talked about the past.
A few months later, in one of our weekly meetings, I was blindsided by the brilliance of Arn’s logic. We were talking about Confra’s constitution, and he alone saw something that everyone else did not. A week before our Holy Week Retreat, I confided to a friend about my new crush.
As God seemed to pre-ordain it, everything fell into place. This time, I courted him. I called him up, would visit him at work, and even made moves I wouldn’t have thought I could do. Even our Confra friends conspired to bring us together. This time, everything worked. It was meant to be. We were meant to live happily ever after. God said so. Cross my heart.
